Stolen Days

21 LOST & STOLEN Days, from Nov. 10, 2006 (Order) through August 31, 2010.

These listing “itemizes” the days for which I fast. Beyond the sad fact that the Order of November 2006 already decreased the time Susanna and I had together, these 21 days represent time that the words of the Order provided to us, but which, for one reason or another it failed to actually deliver. I don’t expect this list to make perfect sense to the reader; I will blog about the Order at some point in the fast. The list is here simply to show that each day of the fast matches one actual day (with an actual date in history) of plcement time that has been stolen by Family Court.

1 day December 27, 2006. Despite promising that the extra day over Christmas break would be with me, it was scheduled in such a way to place Susanna with Connie for 5 full days and with me for only 4 full days.

1 day February 25, 2007. Despite this being 4-day weekend, with no school on Monday, the judge mis-scheduled Susanna for a Sunday pick-up.

3 days Summer 2007. The judge seriously miscalculated Susanna’s summer placement time. Instead of the 45-46 days we should have had–according to the words in the Order–because of math/calendar errors we only got 42 days.

1 day November 21, 2007. This was the first day of Susanna’s Thanksgiving break that year. I should’ve been permitted to pick her up the evening before, but the judge’s error cost Susanna this day with me.

1 day February 24, 2008. Despite this being 4-day weekend, with no school on Monday, the judge (again) mis-scheduled Susanna for a Sunday pick-up.

1 day April 1, 2008. Spring break included 11 overnights;the Order promised the extra overnight to me, but it was scheduled in such a way to place Susanna with Connie for 5 full days and with me for only 4 full days.

3 days Summer 2008. The judge seriously miscalculated Susanna’s summer placement time. Instead of the 45-46 days we should have had–according to the words in the Order–because of math/calendar errors we only got 42 days.

1 day February 22, 2009. Despite this being 4-day weekend, with no school on Monday, the judge (again) mis-scheduled Susanna for a Sunday pick-up.

2 days May 1-3, 2009. Susanna’ audition for Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra was used as reason to cancel a weekend in Minnesota with no offer to reschedule as time in Minnesota. (I was given the “option” to book a motel room in the Sun Prairie area and exercise my placement time there.)

3 days Summer 2009. The judge seriously miscalculated Susanna’s summer placement time. Instead of the 45-46 days we should have had–according to the words in the Order–because of math/calendar errors we only got 42 days.

1 day April 1, 2010. Spring break included 11 overnights; but was again scheduled in such a way to place Susanna with Connie for 5 full days and with me for only 4 full days. (This occurred despite efforts to get it corrected—and despite Susanna missing a 4-day weekend with me at the end of February because of a school trip; that weekend was replaced with a 2-day weekend.)

3 days Summer 2010.The judge seriously miscalculated Susanna’s summer placement time. Instead of the 45-46 days we should have had–according to the words in the Order–because of math/calendar errors we only got 42 days.

21 days total (This is conservative. Had one other oversight been included* and had summer placement been figured at 46 days/summer, this total would be 27 days: 2 days in November 2006; 1 day each in summers 2006-2010. )

*2 days November 17-18, 2006. Mis-scheduled by the judge despite clear info from me regarding a required college trip. It was re-scheduled to Dec. 1-2 while dropping Dec. 8-9. without ever replacing these latter placements dates. By not making the calendar out with careful attention to the data she had in front of her, her correction cost Susanna 2 days with me.
